Another way to get to the power options through the battery charge icon on the desktop, we click on it and go to the option "more power options" that will send us to the same window.
Within the energy options there will be several to choose from on the left side of the screen, from all of them we select "choose the behavior of the lid closure" and click on "Change plan settings", depending on the plan you are using. Then we click on "Change advanced power settings".
This option will take us to the screen to define the power buttons and activate the password protection in which they show us two options: the first, what do you want the laptop to do when the lid is closed and it is without connection to the electrical network, that is, when it is working with the battery and the second, how it will behave when the lid is closed while connected to the electrical network.
We select the power plan that we want to customize through "change advanced power settings" and customize it. Once here we have to look for the section "power buttons and cover" and select "Action when closing the cover"> "With battery> Do nothing" as in "With alternating current> Do nothing". We accept and that's it. From this moment on, your laptop will stay on even if you close the lid.

thank you for your feedback.
I went into the power options and tried to customize the 'high performance' power plan.
The problem is that when I go into the 'advanced power settings', between all the sections, there is not one about the lid closure. I checked them all one by one and I only have like 'display>turn off after' or like 'sleep>sleep after etc..'
Nothing about the lid.

We can choose between Suspend, which is the default option, Hibernate, Shut down or Do nothing. The same we have to do with the option When closing the lid when we have the laptop connected to the power. In this way, if we indicate that when closing the laptop lid do nothing, we will prevent the system from suspending the equipment when we close the laptop.
Once we click on the Save changes button, the new settings will take effect automatically and we can now see how when closing the laptop lid the system is not suspended and is still active so that we can make use of it connected to a secondary screen with the lid closed.

If, when checking the options and saving the changes, you restart the computer.
If the problem persists, repair your operating system, as the problem may be that some functions are uninstalled.
If your computer is not updated to the latest version, it would be advisable to update it.
Now, in order to analyze our system and verify that everything works correctly, what we must do is open a CMD window, with Administrator permissions, and execute, in order, the following commands:
• sfc / scannow
• DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / CheckHealth
• DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / ScanHealth
• DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth
The SFC (System File Checker) command is responsible for checking all system files to see if any are missing, for any reason, or if they are damaged.
On the other hand, the DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) command is another tool designed to perform automatic PC maintenance. Also widely used to detect and repair corrupt files.
When executing these commands, it will be the operating system itself that analyzes itself and, in case of detecting any possible errors, it will apply the necessary solutions.
Try these options and repair your system, and after restarting the computer, try again to configure the option to do nothing when lowering the lid of your laptop.
